From Wikipedia, "The Hyper Pak was primarily intended for competition driving, its road manners involving rough idling and poor cold-engine driveability, a high power band and poor fuel economy. But, in competition events, it proved unbeatable. Eight factory-backed Valiants entered the 1960 NASCAR compact car race at Daytona Beach, and humbled the competition; the Valiants came in first through eighth. After a similar performance the following year, the race was dropped."

For extreme pressure lubrication or to avoid chafing, apply liberally or conservatively, as required.

Words are born to be abused.
"Engine" means the same as "system" or possibly "machine", in literal meaning.

In my dictionary from before the war, a fuel burning machine is the #5 meaning

It's been moving up the ranks, evidently now #1

You Engine Heads, this thread has been more like it is now than it ever will be, a common, everyday, mundane, trivial, pedantic, pedestrian, prosaic, quotidian and wearisome, a lowest common denominator, Yellowbullet TOBT thread, but with decorum. =D>

Especially for you Special Needs Engine Heads, if I notice you are lurking in a thread, to maintain decorum in the forum, I will try to stick to one-syllable words. Did you notice it isn't possible to say one-syllable with only one syllable?

I just can't imagine hearing Jackie Stewart saying anything except "motor racing" in his thick Scottish accent...

So I typed a bunch of terms into my Search Engine, and came up with this:

http://www.differencebetween.net/techno ... and-motor/
The word “engine” comes from the Latin word “ingenium.” An engine is a device or system (electrical, mechanical, chemical, or even social, human, or political) which effects a result. For instance, a bomb is an engine, a crane is an engine, a water-powered mill is an engine, a political party is also an engine, and even a criminal gang is an engine. Gradually through the decades, “engine” became associated especially with boilers, fire, furnaces, and bombs. In short, any device which tended to get hot and explode.
Engines are basically the devices which convert any form of energy to bring about mechanical effects...
Motor” did not originate from “electric motor.” Long ago, motors were powered by wound springs. Faraday put the word “electric” in front of “motor” to distinguish it from other motors of that time...
You can make up all sorts of distinctions between "engine" and "motor", but in common usage they're more-or-less interchangeable. One could also say that all motors are engines, but not all engines are motors, and be reasonably correct.

There may be a difference, but it doesn't make any difference in modern language.

" but it doesn't make any difference in modern language. "

Except to quickly get the " I was always taught" crowd agitated.
Talk about a "device which tended to get hot and explode."

I'm thinking the faithful old slanted six (this thread's subject line) would never consider behaving in such a manner.
