How about taking a unconventional approach. Get a old school X style single plane intake manifold.
Torker, accelorater, offy 360 etc and instead of trying to make it better. Make it a worse, less effective intake manifold.
De-tune it. Kill the tuned resonant pipe duct action of the intake runners. Do this by simply carving out the common walls between the paired runners to male them
Siameze and much shorter length. Make the manifold a Anti-tuned" induction system.. Less torque, less power thru reduced volumetric efficientcy, cylinder filling, and increased passive exhaust gas reversion EGR effect.
Less cylinder pressure. Less likely to knock.

But what I would do is convert it to an aftermarket fuel injection system that has electronic timing control.

Sorry????
Was that a carburetted engine???? #-o
Then reply #1 is to install an EFI system! :D
A $3000 cure for a $2 problem.

Because Carburetted is always better, don't you know! Even if you would need to make an engine less efficient to make it stop knocking.

Oh, and because the old school x style single plane intake manifold is only $2 !

I am all about carburetors because I am cheep but there is no way I would ever convert my 1993 or 2009 trucks to one. :)

My daily heap is running a 11.3:1cr 360ci with iron heads, Edelbrock AirGap and Dougs Headers without ping.
Quench clearance 0.029-30". CompCams XE256 cam.
Ofcourse nowhere near 500hp, but just under 300hp for now.

Propane is the fuel used.

I would like to see the powers that be developing more of that as opposed to Efuels but that will never happen.

What is your cranking cylinder pressure?

X3 on W/M being like EFI. I ran a good W/M system in a hot-rod air cooled engine for about a year with high compression, plenty of squish & a hot cam, and things initially worked fine but gradually deteriorated. Pulled the system & found the stock aluminum water jet had corroded nearly closed; distilled water is acidic. Made a brass jet; that fixed the corrosion but it was a pain to go to the grocery store every Saturday for enough distilled to make it to Friday in a 70 mile per day daily driver. Started using tap water. Hardwater lime build-up gradually closed the custom brass jet. Pulled the W/M system & sold it, decreased compression a full point and that fixed my problem. Good point: the piston tops looked brand new and so did the combustion chambers. YMMV-

Instead of water use blue winter fomula cheap stuff windshield washer fluid. It is water+ methanol.
Shake the jug. If it foams it has detergent
If it climbs the side of thebjug ithas glycol in it.
You want the cheap simple winter formula blue stuff that has no detergent nor glycol. Read the MSDS safetey data sheet on it.
It is better than just water as a anti detonation fluid.
Cheaper than distilled water. Its about 25-30% methanol mix by weight Add a slight bit of Canola oil to reduce corrosion. Increase pump life.
Acts as a "top lube" too. Water injection nozzles must be stainless and yup you got to ckean them.
You got to stay on top of a water injection system.
If it fails you can damage the motor from knock.

Today's best premium brand-name non-food sourced pump fueled engine w/ 11:1 CR is quite doable w/o ping w/aluminum heads, as several in this thread have repeatedly said. Pays youse $$$ & takes youse choice on whether you'd rather R & R heads or pistons, the real costs of parts plus labor for each, plus the purpose this engine needs to serve best.

Few more thoughts about:

1. Yes, water jets MUST be stainless steel
2. Newer water injection systems (like the one I posted) has a flow sensor as FAIL-SAFE to warning you of any WI issue = detonation
3. WI is to be finely tuned to spray ONLY in pinging "cells" and around there, so the water consumption is limited
4. you can even use distilled water out of a cloth dryer, a/c or dehumidifier

208-210 psi.

LPG indeed, but we have a mix of Butane and Propane.

With exhaust gas flow control system to introduce exhaust gas into the intake manifold when needed to slow combustion and tame peak combustion temperatures at heavy throttle points. The exhaust gas is free. Coud use multiple oem off the shelf EGR valves
To control and regulate the EGR flow into the intake manifold. The exhaust gas could be collected from the exhaust system and compressed with a engine driven pump and stored in a pressure tank in the trunk or under hood ready to be injected under pressure into the intake manifold as required when ever you feel the need to "Rug -IT". Exhaust gas in the combustion chamber does a good good job of slowing combustion burn speed, taming peak combustion temps and displacing combusable air fuel with non combustible gas .
It supresses engine knock.
Rochester doesn't sell the 100 octane race fuel. Not according to their website anyway. Only Henrietta and W Seneca.

Only the ethanol-free fuel in Rochester.
