I bought an unfinished ladderbar car with no driveshaft. I finished the car and had a driveshaft made. Put it in and the D/SH was only about a centimeter away from the passenger side of the tunnel. I adjusted the top (panhard bar? I guess its called?) and it brought my dr/sh pretty close to center but then my dr/side wheele was 2″ from the wh.wel and the pas. side had 5″ of clearance between the tire and body. I took it all apart and re adjusted everything and to no avail. Someone told me maybe the adjuster(panhard bar) the drop was maybe welded in the wrong place? The drop is dr.side axel tube. Should it be somewhere else? I lazered this thing and even loosed the engine and trans mounst and still the same thing, but everything LOOKS straight. PLEASE HELP ME>>>> Thank you John Troxell

I see two choices!
1. The cheapest would be to alter the tunnel to fit.

2. Buy a new differential housing with new axle's to fit.

Is the rear end square when the panhard bar was changed?
(sounds like it was cocked with that much tire/wheelwell difference)

Also, what is the pinion angle?

When you change one thing, other stuff will need re-adjusted.

i talked to a tech at douge alstons chassishop and they asked if the engine and trans were in the stock location, and this being a 62 belair with a 79 camero front end i said yes, he said whoever did the back half forgot to compensate for the 1/2" offset on the ass end. Sooooo.....Square the rearend up and start grinding on the tunnel or move the engine mounts over........Hmmmm.

This is a pain to do but it will work, as far as alignment is concerned. Bolt a piece of pipe in the mains of a spare block thats long enough to reach to the rearend and gauge off of it ( moving mtr. mounts or what needs to be done). Make sure the pipe is straight. Makes for a great alignment bar.

How about putting a lazer on the tr ans, loosen the mounts, ratchet it to center and weld the bitches there? huHhUh;)
