I have streeting it 11 years,1980 malibu, it was a race only car, but that has changed, I drive it on long trips. It runs 8.70 at 157 with 1.30 60s. I am 81 years old and love the wheelies a 100 ft. long and more, IT RIDES HARD, Bottoming in the rear alot. Are the springs to light(Comp.Eng), there 100#. The car is 3570#. I dont want to hurt the track times. Oldhead

Which element is bottoming out or topping out? the springs or the shocks?

If its the coil springs then on that car adding Air Lift air bags to the rear springs can help a lot.
Let the air out when drag racing if thats the optimum.

If its the shocks you may need longer travel or may need different shock mounting to get the at rest
center position right.
or is the rear end bouncing squatting or lifting while driving. ( acceleration, braking , cornering, going over bumps or dips in the road.
Rear suspension control arm geometry set up for best drag race chassis reaction and weight transfer
probabily won;t be the best geometry overall for street driving.
Adding adjustability of that helps. The air springs assisting the coil springs helps in that area.
