What would it take to make the old SOB run like onne these new 800 hp jobbers??

I have pretty-much restified the suspension with full poli and heavy duty springs and sway bars front and rear. Lowered springs in the front..

Along with my about 550hp/580T, 496 BBC and M-20/3-31 12-bolt posi. As well as new style tires and wide rims..

Do all I need to make it current is to blow it so it will make 800hp so it will run with the NEW DOGS??

And I do figure that with me in it, it should weigh like less than 3400 pounds so is light, imho..

Hell, I figure that if I make the 325" SBC engine that I will drop say 100 pounds! vs the porky, all iron except for my intake and small headers BBC..

And I am going with something like 500 hp out of my 325" engine way up top!!

i think you really have to define what your after. if you want it to run and drive as well or better than one of the new cars, nothing you listed is going to do it. if you want to outrun one in a straight line, you have some options. if you want to out handle one, youll need more than sway bars.

I look at what the factories are producing these days and I'm jealous. The manufactures have done an outstanding job being everything to everybody. The cars start and idle cold, have tuneable suspensions, go crazy fast in turns or straight, has good street manners, make unbelievable gas mileage and still pass EPA certification. They do all that with a warranty.
How does a home builder compete with a 50 year old pony car without losing the essence that makes that old iron so appealing?

Drag racing and road course racing.

Heck, back the last time I drove it, it was sprung so tight that I could turn a 90 degree corner due to my stock, quick ratio steering running about 40 mph. It would almost skip sideways. Mostly I throttle steered it..

lefty o,

If I was to modify my car that much, I would make a, "Big Red I", clone and be done with it!

https://bigredcamaro.com/

And as far as I am concerned, "Big Red", can go up against ANY and ALL cars in the WORLD!!

But thanks for the link you put up.
