If changing the length is not workable you can simply increase the gap but that will cause more spring distortion and more shock with a clutch or trans brake. Adding a leaf or increasing spring rate will reduce lift. You want the lift, just not way more than needed. If you suddenly hit a travel limit the rear tires will unload momentarily.

You want just enough lift in the back to plant the tires, and no more, just as you want enough front end travel to get the weight transferred and up on the tire, and no more. As far as traction devices, yes guys have gone fast with slapper type bars. You work hard enough at something, eventually you will get it right. If it isn't broke , don't fix it. However just because a car hooks doesn't mean it is working. The Cal Trac bars were a good idea, however I like the new bar that is out, very similar in design, not like a Slide a Link, but the Cal Trac. The difference being is they have 3 adjustments front and back for better control of instant center, or your lift point. Hope this helps.

Joe,
Talk more about this new setup. Who has it?

You can post a link here if you will.

By the way. Is this place like I told you it would be ? :D

automotive breath I thought you forgot me. These pics are awesome. I assume your guy runs a trans-brake, as I don't. I do have hope for single digits though, my mph is 129 in bad air. Also, I changed a few things. I took some pre-load out in back, [ should hit the tires harder]. Next, I let the chain out of the front [ had it restrained]. Now have about 3in more rise. Looks more like your pictures. I hope it helps. Thank You. Dan.

T350 with 5000+ stall, foot brake. Front end is as loose as it gets, he
cut the front springs to allow more travel.

CP if your out there, lets try to get a picture of the left rear tire
and suspension before and after the launch. It looks like 5+ inches
of separation! May be time for new springs.

Thanks CP, that would be great. Looking at the pictures the back of the car
is twisting real hard. It would be good to see what the spring an slapper bar
are doing under the load of launch.

I cannot stress enough how important rear sway bars are!
I was no longer driving the car consciously. I was driving it by a kind of instinct, only I was in a different dimension.

Dan, The 67 is using Rancho RS9000X shocks with 9-position adjustment
with the rebound set on firm. These shocks have a longer than stock
extension. He was running competition engineering 3 way adjustable,
they would not handle the power.
