Still mad I wasn't there. Like JC said. Family reunion.
Re: Time for the official 2015 EMC discussion
Great job Randy! You have a great engine! We'll done. JC Damit!

Almost Kaase made 576 hp at 6,100 rpm and 554 lb-ft at 4,500 rpm according to the website.
Randy Malik was making 571 peak horsepower at 6,700 rpm, while a peak of 538 lb-ft of torque was on hand at 4,400 rpm

Thanks I'm aware of that. I was asking what Mr.Kaase observed on his dyno BEFORE the contest. J.RobJohn Wallace wrote:Almost Kaase made 576 hp at 6,100 rpm and 554 lb-ft at 4,500 rpm according to the website.

So, did Pontiac win the contest for the big block class?
The website says they were ahead with one competitor left, but no follow up?

Yep - the Pontiac won the Big Block class
Second place was the BB Chevy from Roycroft
The FE Ford finished next, followed by the 385 series Ford from Oakley and the BB Chevy from LeBrun
Pretty cool to see representatives from that many engine families all so close. We needed a BB Mopar in the mix. Overall the spread from first to fourth was much tighter than in prior years - most likely reflecting the fact that the big kis (Kaase, Bischoff, Massengil) chose to run in different classes. The Lebrun folks brought a really nice engine that made big horsepower. They get a "bye run" since this is their first year in, and they will doubtless score much better as they get used to the unique peculiarities of EMC competition scoring.

Re: Time for the official 2015 EMC discussion
I had a great time this year. Going in knowing that I was bringing a knife to a gun fight, I'm extremely happy with the results. We all want to win, but being 100" too big makes it next to impossible.

A lot of unknowing onlookers think of this as merely a contest of engines when it is actually about the people involved and challenging yourself to do the best you can with whatever cards you've been dealt, (in life).
Every year I take away something learned which I didn't know the day before from someone least expected. I am already looking forward to next year.

Sorry Barry, worst thing is our 2013 466 was just sitting on our shop floor doing nothing this year. J.RobBarry_R wrote:Yep - the Pontiac won the Big Block class

Re: Time for the official 2015 EMC discussion
My observed at home were 560 tq 560 hp. Corrected to 625/625. But the weather was .65" less barometer and .3 more vp at home than at the school. My observed at the school was the same. 560/560. But the dyno reads less than mine plus less correction results in 40 less tq and 30 less hp. I really wanted to get past 600 there but it would not do it. If I was first to run or behind I would have drained some oil out and done a spark plug change to extended tip. Jon

Re: Time for the official 2015 EMC discussion
My score at home was 992 and my score there was 989 so, I guess the dyno I use corresponds well with the school dyno's.
I might have gained a few more points with tuning there but, not 30 points worth. 5 dyno runs there was enough.

Now that this one is in the box, is it time to review what we think went well, and what we think needs some attention and changes?
