I'm going to be purchasing a new engine before the year end. I am not up on all the latest, greatest parts & such. I am looking for a good long term value.
No matter what builder I go with, the engine will have titanium valves, carb, & ignition.
It will be used for pulling & I will visit with the builder before hand to let them know that. I do not plan to spin it harder than 8,000 rpm.
I'm looking for a good bang for my buck as this is most likely my last BBC purchase.
Please, If this turns into a this builder is better than that builder thread, it will get deleted. PM me that if you feel the need to speak out.

Some questions you'll likely be asked when you visit with the builders you listed.I am looking for a good long term value. . . .this is most likely my last BBC purchase. . . . It will be used for pulling & I will visit with the builder before hand
1. What's your budget?
2. Last for years or win first time out?
3. What displacement?
4. What horsepower?
5. How are you at tuning?

Thanks, I wouldn't buy one if they didn't ask those types of questions.
I'm learning more about the SR 20 series heads & some of the other go fast parts.

Just how big of a BBC do you want?
Heck, aren't they over 800 cubic inches nowadays?

Almost any versed engine builder, (not just an assembler), who has been in this business for any length of time will know how to get the basics of this type engine done. You need to trust the engine builder's knowledge and experience for getting you his "best bang for the buck" or simply pay the money for all the known high quality, high dollar stuff.BBCFAN wrote:I'm going to be purchasing a new engine before the year end. The question becomes what are your priorities and then let whatever engine builder decide the cause of action to be taken to get to that end.
