R.I.P. Ray Akerly

Post by engineguyBill »

Just heard, at the PRI Show, that Ray Akerly one of the founders of Akerly & Childs in Santa Clarita, CA passed away in November. Many of us counted Ray as a true friend and knowledgeable colleague. He will be missed.

They had great rings and Rods back then and could do up custom Rods( lenght wise ) at a great price !

Oh man, this is saddening. I hadn't talked with him in a long time and never heard why he left Akerly and Childs, maybe it was health. :( I met him the first time at PRI years years ago and it was quite humorous since we talked on the phone quite often but had never met. I walked up and stood there looking at his name tag and he looked at mine and we both started busting up laughing. Evidently neither of us looked like we had pictured.

Man, what a great and knowledgeable guy. Hat's off Ray.
