Transmission Band adjustment

How often should the bands be adjusted on dragrace cars

This isn't necessarily true for ALL transmissions but if you're running a PowerGlide with a trans brake then it will usually let you know when it needs adjusting, ie, it will try to back up when you press the brake button.

Not too many transmissions used in drag racing run bands with an adjustment screw. Like Ken said with a glide, it will try to back up. On mine in my dragster, I check it about once a month and readjust it, just so it's not a concern on race day..

Well that didn't work right I made the adjustment base on the believe that my trans case was a C-4,come to find out I have a C-5 case which calls for a different adjustment when you back off the the adjusting screw 4 1/2 turns for C-5 case 1 1/2 turns for C-4 case now I have to much drag on the band and the oil smells burnt.
