GM 7.5

Post by mitch » Wed Feb 25, 2015 7:52 am

Has anyone ever seen a GM 7.5 with no shim at all on the pinion. Got a 79 Buick That I am swapping the gears out on and when I pressed the old bearing off to reuse the shim it did not have one.My new gear is looking like it will take a .038 shim. All the ones that I have done in the past have always been real close to needing the original shim.It had factory 3.08 gears in it. I am replacing with Richmond 3.42.
Thanks Mitch

Every one I've had apart had .030- .035 shim in them. Has anybody been in this rear end before?
