Post by 598 BIG RAT » Sun Jul 26, 2015 1:08 pm

HELLO GENTS
My third member is leaking at the bottom thru bolt. Since i have never dismantled a thru bolt third member i thought i would ask someone who knows.
can i just take it out and put a new washer on it or what would you guys do?

You could remove it and replace the washer

You'll have to drop the center, it may be loose. I have never had one leak before

There is a nut on the other end of the bolt holding the bearing cap on. The third member must be removed to remove the nut. A little silicone on each bolt head and washer will keep it from leaking. Simply changing the hardened washer most likely not stop a leak.
