Hydraulic fluid could be any color. I've seen clear, straw, brown, red, blue, green and purple.

We used tractor or forklift oil mixed with Dexron III in many different units successfully over the years. In all cases the transmission life increased, lower operating temperatures, and less sensitivity to outside temperature, more consistent track times, and improved E.T. and trap speed. The TH400 was thee exception in terms of seeing any E.T. and trap speed improvements. This was due to the oil climbing into the geartrain on leaving the starting line. Ratios could be 30 - 70 to 100% depending on what was needed or what was going on.
