Muncie Transmission Parts

Post by old_chopper » Wed Jan 13, 2016 4:51 pm

We are building custom transmission cases utilizing the internals from the old Muncie heavy duty 3 speeds. We are finding it next to impossible to find replacement parts for these. Can you point me in a direction for parts like these?

Heat is energy, energy is horsepower...but you gotta control the heat.

I don't think Kevin @ The GearBox has Muncie 3-spd parts. Is this the Muncie '318'?

Are you looking for complete gearsets to sort of "productionize" these, or random parts to repair used gearsets to put in your cases?

Looking for repair parts. The steel syncro dogs seem to be an issue. Would also be interested in some bearings. The input shaft and output shaft bearings are the same in these. Actually after reading your post again, complete gear sets would be perfect. We are currently buying donor transmissions and swapping the internals. These are gettin harder to locate.

Believe it or not, demolition derby cars. It was found the Muncie gears would hold up but they hit hard enough to break the ears off the cases. I got roped into building these a year ago at a family get together after several frosty adult beverages.

This is what I thought.

You might get lucky and ask Autogear if they have a lead for you??? I doubt it but you never know until you ask..

If you do, please say hello from ol' pdq67 for me.
