Gear and shift point

Post by seefour » Mon Apr 18, 2016 8:12 am

Questions?
I have a sbf that made pk hp at 7500 rpm pk tq at 5500 rpm .
I'm running strictly 1/8 mile with a 28 tall drag radial . mickey T bracket . c-4 transmission with a 2.20 first gear. 1.46 second and 1:1 third.
What rpm should I be trapping at and what kinda shift points?

I'd start at 8100 RPM for shift point.

Then try a higher point then depending on if it's quicker go whichever way is gaining better ET.

If your car is able to run 120 MPH for the HP of the engine, you'd trap around 8100 RPM using a 5.63 rear gear.

Now getting a 28" tire to hook with that combo is something else.
