Converter pump change and Ring and Pinion change at the same

Post by naylon » Sun Oct 02, 2016 3:10 pm

Turbo 3200 cc engine. TH400. 3400 lbs weight.

10" converter. Engine speed drops by 2250 rpm on 1 to 2 shift. Could not run the 1/4 mile due to rain, but slip at the end of 330 foot is % 7.

60" is 1,68 seconds

Converter is vert tight, I ll be getting a new pump with negative angled fins.

Would it be a good idea to remove 3,23 final drive ratio and put a 3,62 ring and pinion at the same time with the new pump?

If your goal is the maximize your 1/4 mi. performance, you'll want to know what rpm you turn in 3rd at the finish line.

Probably nobody's responding because the question was vague and insufficient information was provided.

Max RPM ... max HP at what RPM ... max torque at what RPM ... rolling diameter of the drive wheels (it's part of the overall drive ratio calculation) ... stall RPM of the torque converter ... all unknown.
