Glide and gear selection question

I have a 2850lb (with me in it) chevy II. approx 750hp 440sbc. Trans brake and 5k stall. 31in hoosier qtp tire. Drive some on the street and will race 1/8 on occasion...might run 1/4 couple times per year. Has double adjustables front and back. Only thing left to finish is the rear end. Looking for a couple opinions regarding gear selection from those with experience with a similar power, weight, and tire car. I found a good deal on a 4.88 third member but wondering if the car might feel lazy off the line without more gear....or is the car light enough for that not to be the case? originally looking at a new 3rd with 5.14's or steeper but ran across this good used 4.88.

May hit with 150 shot someday and would be great if I could hook 4.88's on a 150 in the 1/8....or is that wishful thinking with that steep of gear. Thanks

I have a good friend with a similar weight and HP car. He has a 98" roll out rear tire and a 5.13 rear gear. His PG has a 1.98 first gear.

He drives it on the street (maybe 300 miles per year) and races it 4 or 5 times a year. The 1/4 mile RPM is about 7600 - 7700. He also wants to install a 150 HP nitrous kit. I suggested that he change the rear gear to 4.56 if he is going to do that. I fear that because he doesn't have any lightweight pistons or rods, that he keep the RPM below 8000 with that much stroke. Going from 5.13 to 4.56 will lower his finish line RPM about 400 or so. But, with the nitrous it will be back up to around 7800+.
