weight of 1957 chevy?

Post by mark gummo »

Does anyone know of an accurate website for weights of older cars or happen to know what a 1957 chevy belair would weigh with full street trim with an iron headed small block and a four speed?

Check out the following link from NHRA. Look at the left and you will see the shipping weight for the different Chevies in 1957.

I have a 1955 chevy 4 door 210 wagon that is all steel except fiberglass hood with a iron headed sbc, roll cage and a 240# driver that weighs in at 3,465#.

Hope that gives you some idea, I know you said 57 chevy but they are pretty close.

There are differences from one to another. Did you know that in 57 there was two different frames. One an over lapped welded and on more extruded and there was about 60 lbs difference between them. the smooth good looking one is lighter.
Older I get the less I know for sure

Thanks for the replies guys. I was trying to figure out how much power my friends car makes and knowing the weight helps out. It supposedly dynoed 315 rwhp on a dyno jet but traps 101-104 which makes that number incorrect of course.
