i have the oil tank in the passenger footwell with a sight tube.
i notice the tube contains what seems to be quite a bit of entrained air in the oil. probably 3-4" with about 5-6" of oil below that.
the head seems to grow the more the engine is ran, up to about 4". when shut down it settles and the oil level is normal.
the tank is a square oval craft with 60 mic screen in the top. i wouldn't expect the tank to contain this amount of foam but there is no way to find out.
i guess my question is this normal?
i figured someone using a dyno with the sight tube would have seen this?
i know the bubbles must go to the top and maybe the tube is just holding them more?
thanks for any input.

well, you might call it a centrifuge, the return line goes into an oberg style filter at a tangent through a screen then into a tall square tank. it is an ovalcraft that i put a sight tube onto the side.

i'm hoping it is just a characteristic of the hose holding air, i can't see into the tank obviously. the tank looks to be designed well inside with baffles.
