Don, did you find the Koni SPA1's to bounce after the initial landing from the wheelie, and did you also find that the car ran "nose up" down the track.

obviously not as bad as junko Comp engineering shocks, but the ones i'm replacing the Konis with will take care of both these problems.

My car doesn't do wheelies so I don't know about the bounce, but make sure your bounce isn't hook-spin.

I've only tried three sets of shocks and the Konis do the best at setting down in high gear.

What shocks are you going to try?

Your car doesnt wheelie? becuase you dont want it to wheelie? If thats the case, through my experience its the wrong approach. in a low HP car they need to wheelie high to remain hooked.
My goal is to hook on any track, to do so i expect i'll need to have the car wheelying at least 2-3ft high.

No-wheelies not by choice, but by nose weight and a 10" converter.

an 8" converter, such as the ATI treemaster really helps the car work, by hitting the tires alot harder.

weight doesnt make such an extreme difference as alot of people would like to think. Take mine for example at 1855lbs on the nose.

hey Speedy,what frt shocks did you find to stop the bounce?my 69 cuda does 1.38 60' footbraking.it hangs 'em 2-3'.my frt weight is 49% when it comes down it does have some bounce but it doesn't unload or anything and i do have the comp engineering shocks.

Afco Double adjustable "bolt-on" front shocks. They list a few applications on their site, but they actually have quite a few.

69' Barracuda is Afco part number 1850M

they are a coil over, but i wont be using them as a coil over, instead i've modifed a spare set of control arms to allow enough room to fit the shocks through the hole in the arm.
I'll be using them with stock type springs.

These shocks arent inexpensive, i obtained my set for $720/pair from a local circle track supply place which orders Afcos in a decent quantity.

I have the on the rear now, and the fronts will be on for next season (probably by the end of the month).

Oh yeah! i have fronts and rears, and luckily i picked up the rears on a deal brand new in the box at $650/pr.

Worth every penny.

I originally had CE 3 way adjustable on the rear and koni "Street" adjustable in the front set with slapper bars.

The car hooked twice the entire season in ideal conditions on a 60 degree day.

Then i bought the Koni STREET adjustable rear shocks and the car hooked on a semi-regular basis.

Swapped to Alf Wiebe's rear suspension and the car Hooked on a 120 degree track, and in most conditions hooked or only slightly spun.

Koni SPA1 front shocks made no difference but the car bounced on return, and the nose stayed up slightly higher down track.

Then i changed to the Afco rear shocks and the car Hooked on an Ice Cold track with Street tire marks all over it and no prep. It was probably 40 degrees out.

Speedy , I have the same problem with the bounce so I am glad to hear Afco's helped it . I to had Koni's on the front and RS 9000 on the rear . Alf builds a great bar but I have Caltracs and they work fine . 1.33 - 1.37 60 ft's with a 9" tire . I am going to change the shocks hopefully before Feb or March . I am at 1960 lbs on the front , 3620 total and adding more to the front and a wheelie bar.
