Is there any easy way to get all the metalic powdery stuff off of the magnets around the stainless reusable filter element? This is a PurePower filter I'm using.

wipe it with a rag and then spray with contact cleaner then wipe with clean rag, that should be good enough

Yea that's basically what I do. The magnets are set in the convolusions of the stainless filter element and the powder gets pushed into the filter element when trying to clean it out. I guess there just isn't any real easy way to do it.

Plumber's putty.
When I was working on the assembly line our magnetic screw gun tips would get fouled up with metal shavings. We would just jab the screw bit into a blob of putty a couple of times and it would be clear of shavings.
You could use a wad of putty to clear the magnet on your filter.

Excellent, the simple solutions are best. Don't know why I didn't think of something like that. Thanks Kenova
