Well boys the price of drag racing just went up 200 for nhra approved header tethers.i saw this on the yellowbullet and i think this rule is crazy!! it looks like t bolt band clamps and a length of cable. certainly not worth 200.a longer 1/4 bolt double nutted is surely cheaper. this is what is ruining drag racing. garym

I suspect most everyone who doesn't have to dis assemble the headers to remove or install them will just weld the collectors on. I have heard of problems with collectors coming off because the welds break on the tabs. If people would actually look their cars over every once in a while stuff like this wouldn't happen. The biggest thing that pizzes me off it all of this stuff has to be "NHRA APPROVED". I've had a locking dipstick on my trans since the 80's, but now it's got to be "NHRA APPROVED". BTW, NHRA charges manufacturers a fee to "APPROVE" stuff.

It is all about MONEY and a lawsuit.
A person got injured badly when a header collector came off, got under the spinning tire in the burn-out box and shot back into someones head.

Blame the people who refuse to properly build and maintain their race cars.

Might also blame those who stand behind a car during a burnout!

Y'all got me thinking. When I started racing (33 years ago) a lot of the racers were mechanics, machinists, engine builders, body men, ect. who worked in the auto repair industry. Lately, more and more "drag racers" are office workers, and other white collar people who just buy fast cars. Most of them know nothing about building, repairing or maintaining a car.

You hear a rattle get under there and tighten them damn things.... you know laziness and neglect, and stupidity cost us at the track

When I was young, and stupid, glad my POS didnt fling exhaust pipes at the local 1/8th track

I am guilty also of stupidity

To meet some rule this would make sense, the way I read it seems to say you can.
I have done this before anyway tired of collector gaskets :D
