406 sbc block filler

Post by 35chevy »

I'm looking for information on using Block Filler on a 406 sbc .030 over, line bored block, decked. I haven't started building this motor yet but the intention is 500 plus hp and ft lbs of torque. It's a stock block, it's been decked squared and ready for me to make a commitment. The 406 is going in a 1935 Chevy pickup weight with driver 2800 lbs
I'm somewhat apprehensive about 400 sbc ability to hold up under stress so I'm considering using a block filler and external oil cooler.
I've never used a block filler and am getting mixed messages reading comments on different forums. Some swear by it, some don't like it at all.
The next question is what product. I've heard everything from bowling ball epoxy to concrete flooring cement leveler. and some actual block filler by trade names, Moroso, Hard Blok, etc. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I am committed to building this 406, now I need some advice on strengthening the block, ie main cap girdle, block filler etc.

I believe I gave a rather detailed answer in another section here.
