Well, actually they do give a specific answer -- for a single use application try 3M Type 77. I have used this myself.

While a spray-on adhesive like 3M #77 may work you really want a "film adhesive" which is basically a uniform layer of goo on release paper. These are available from 3M and others in strengths from post-it note to near permanent.

I worked with PSC Fabricating in a past life and they were great with samples, basic info, and prototype lots. They can go directly from graphic files to laser cutting; probably even MAKE decals. I know there are others but this is going in the direction of commercial stickers, decals, etc. and may give you some ideas.
