Racers, help me digest these time slips
I put a new converter in the car and tried a new way on launching it. I swapped my BTE for an Edge converter. I normally engage the nitrous on the brake and let it push against the converter as hard as it can. With the new converter Edge asked me to launch on the motor and let the nitrous come in at the release of the transbrake to flash the converter.
The track tonight was very cold (DA was 200) but the temp was 54* so none of the fast cars (6.0 and quicker) were getting down the track, me included. I made three runs and the first two I launched the way Edge asked me to and the car felt like it moved a little soft just for a sec. and then carried the front tires a much further distance than normal. It also had its best 60' with the new gears 1.174, but the track was slippery and I had to lift at about 200 feet. I came back the next run and left like I normally do(nitrous on brake), the car left pretty straight, got loose so I lifted, and got back into it (I thought I was off the throttle for at least a couple of 1/10 maybe more) the car ran 1/10 from its best time ever! I could not believe it.......I thought best case it went a 5.5xx or a 5.6xxx maybe worse Here is the question, how good of a run was this on until I had to lift? Did I learn anything about the new converter? It appears the car likes to launch the way Edge wants me to, but I got to have a track that will hold the converter flash.
Here is a side by side with the best run the car has ever made vs. the 5.35 run tonight.

The car run the 1st half of the track .645 quicker on the 5.25 run, but them only .018 quicker on the 2nd half....I would think with all the momemtum I lost when I lifted, there is no way it would make up the 2nd half of the (track vs. the best run the car has ever made) like it did. ???? Unless something really good is happening somewhere.
Any input from you more experienced racers?
Thanks,
John

Time slips.
John, look again. Your half track time slowed on the 5.35 run to the tune of .078sec. The 60' was off by .026sec, and you slowed a total of.096, and a few mph. I think, still pretty good for having to lift off the gas. Keep us informed, and Good Luck. Dan.

An update, I went back to the track and with all other things being equal I went my two fastest et's ever....by .006 and .011 respectively. Most of the et was gained in the first 60 so I think they way I am launching is accounting for the new bests. I tied my best ever 60 (1.150) and backed it up with a 1.156.
Mph was 133+, best being 133.96 with the old converter.
