engine alignment

Post by hellisht »

putting a 62 nova together with aftermarket front clip, narrowed olds rear, cage and new floor ect, ect, ect. when mounting the motor in the chassi does one try to keep it level from front to back? (crank center line) trans tunel not installed yet so clearance is not an issue.

NO.........

if you ran a laser light from the harmonic dampner bolt through the block and tranny you would want it to hit the center of the pinion nut...

my car is short and my drive shaft is only 30" long.....my motor is pointed down 5* in the front.

crank height is important, you will want to keep the dampner bolt lower than 12" or the car could be a wheel stander..

my car is 94" wheel base (typical wheelstander) and i have the crank set at just 11 inches and it launches like a pro stocker....
