Wanted: Oversize wrist pins

Post by Dave Koehler »

Got an old Pontiac that only has .0003-.0006 press fit on the rod. Worries me.
Looking for something you guys never thought you would ever sell again. Blow the dust off your shelves!
Need 8 +.001 pins

Pontiac 400
current pin Nominal sizes:
.980
3.240 long
.190 wall thickness
195 grams

Where did all the stock go from Ertel/OhioPistonandPin group when they folded?

Thanks

-had that same problem once---had a local chrome plater guy just copper plate the pin ends like you used to see on a lot of rods back in the 1970's.

-that deal worked excellent for me.

Dave, if push comes to shove, here is what I did a while back.
I honed the small end out to the correct size to use the BBC .990 pins

Got the issue resolved but thanks for the effort guys.
Bill Jones: Never would have thought about the plating deal. Filed away for future fixes.
bbmachine: We all might want to know more about Mr Wrist pin.
Bigspeed: now we know not to throw any of that old stuff out, eh?

Mr Wrist Pin hard chromes and centerless grind the pins, even re chamfers the ends. Had them do a set of pins for 331 Caddy that had the rod small end .0015 oversize. After that I just honed the pistons to fit the new pin o.d. and all done. Cost was about $110 including return shipping. Contact info:

If any of you guys need old stuff try EGGE at: http://www.egge.com/contact.shtml
I had an old Caddy that they furnished pistons for, NOS even! Also NOS gaskets.
Very easy to work with in my couple of cases. No telling how long they have been investing in NOS. A buddy did a 53 stude and they hooked him up on some stuff he needed.
