When it comes down to preservation of The Republic as we know it, there is no LINE! Do you remember this guy from US History in school? Back then all able bodied men owned a musket, and, knew how to shoot it!! =D>

Image
What does this have to do with a crazed ex military with a history of PSTD, shooting unarmed strangers in a gun free zone bar with an illegal magazine?

One might also make the case, stop sending thousands of young men to stupid ass non winnable military industrial complex promoted oversea wars on false pretenses, and the spilling of blood will be more in accordance Jeffersons original thinking, instead of a shooters 15 minutes of fame shooting fellow citizens.
I agree, it has absolutely nothing to do with Jeffersons rhetoric.

I hope you agree Jefferson admonished global military adventures as well.

Come on man...
Do you think there's a single person on this board talking about the abolition of government funded roads, police, firemen and ambulances???

How much of those specifically listed services constitute the current 4 TRILLION dollar federal budget? Or the 22 TRILLION dollar debt?
No who would, but at the same time do not pretend it is not a form of socialism, or not if you can explain how it differs.

referring to our national debt or budget i do not know that answer. How much goes to corporate welfare or war ?
Funny, I don't remember saying such services weren't socialist in nature. Don't pretend you don't know the many who critique socialism aren't talking about these services.

Hilarious that skip right over domestic social programs and go right to corporate welfare and war. Would it not be fair to say ALL OF IT is not only grossly mismanaged but much of it largely unnecessary?

The impetus for Social Security, Medicare, Unemployment benefits, the overthrowing of dozens of foreign governments, the CIA, the Russian/US "race" to the moon, The Communist Domino Theory Doctrine, "wars" on poverty and drugs, FDIC, the growth of the welfare state (corporate AND low income), the progressive Income Tax system, Campaign Finance Reform & The Affordable Care Act was not borne out by the people. They were ALL "manufactured" in the political sphere to create a plea for government expansion. The "necessity" of these programs have been so engrained in our thought process, many could not imagine a country without them.

THIS is why Socialism isn't going anywhere anytime soon...
I suggest you move from the hell hole your living in if its that bad... constant bytching and complaining.

Or stop living in the past

Maybe then, I'll stop bytching and complaining...

Like I said, live in the present or move to a country that's better than where you are.

Which country would you choose? Maybe a country where you can lay a beating on someone because your triggered by what they say

In a series of tweets Saturday, Trump said the state's deadly wildfires are a result of "poor" forest management and threatened to cut federal aid.
"There is no reason for these massive, deadly and costly forest fires in California except that forest management is so poor," Trump tweeted. "Billions of dollars are given each year, with so many lives lost, all because of gross mismanagement of the forests. Remedy now, or no more Fed payments!"

F dummy.

Back to the original question. "Why is socialism still alive?" I can answer that. Ignorance, the same reason racism, and perhaps many other "ism's" are still alive.
I used to be a people person, but people ruined it.

Nah... I'll continue bytching and complaining.

AGAIN, because the current system is unsustainable.

Are my grievances much different than yours? Smaller government, low taxes, less domestic and foreign intervention,
free speech, greater personal freedom? Or do you NOT actually believe in republican ideals???

Not sure what it is about what I support that is so controversial.

It’s not about what you support, it’s about who you don’t support. You don’t have Trump’s balls in your mouth, so guys like Rev, GM, and TA are gonna give you the business.

What IS in that health care cost number is the cut that the insurance companies take.

If the USA gets appreciably more health care than residents of other countries, it does not show up in life expectancy, by which measure, many of those same countries that spend less per capita on health care, have better results. (Canada ranked 18th at 81.76 years, USA ranked 43rd at 79.68 years)
The insurance company cut is limited by law, so probably not a whole lot more than the government cut to run it.

Life expectancy is a poor measure of healthcare system effectiveness. US habits for diet and exercise in particular are REALLY bad and that is the primary driver of life expectancy... If you look at other metrics like heart attack or stroke outcomes, cancer treatment outcomes, ect, things where you can measure the health system performance directly you see the US rates tend to be at or near the best...so the health system is doing great in spite of us.
Great post!

Get your head out of your azz.

Look around at what's going on in the world.. populist capitalism is really on the rise.

Then you have the other populism,, socialist.. which is on life support in many places, except it's gaining in the USA

If the democrats don't wake up and move back to the center, the socialists will eat them alive

Look no further than Bernie... he would have done better against trump than the hildabeast. And look at that proud demo socialist that just won big in New York .

The dems have no vision, no platform other than trump hate.. they have no leader yet and it's only two years till showtime.

I'll tell right now if Bernie and that Cortez chick from New York announced today they were teaming up to run in 2020 as the socialist duo .. they would do better against trump than anything the dems have to offer right now.. they would lose... but it's scary the popularity of them two whack jobs

When the socialists say everything will be free, healthcare, schooling, etc. who pays the people offering those services?

That Cortez clown has even guaranteed everyone a job! Now that should produce some real driven kids going through the free education system 🙄🙄
