Cam Grinders

Post by SchmidtMotorWorks »

I have a couple of cam grinders for sale.
Both have index plates for SBC and BBC for any firing order.
The Van Norman has fresh table and follower bearings the spindle runs quaite and smooth.
The Landis has two spindles one can hold small wheels to grind inverse radius roller cams.

I am making space for something that I can do with my kids so I might be interested in a trade.
Maybe wood workiing stuff like a jointer, planer, table saws.
Maybe kids race car, jr dragster, kart?
Try me.

Here are some pictures.

Hi, Jon,

First, congrats on keeping them so clean. Most cam grinders I've seen are the pits.

Second, unfortunate we are so far apart. I've got just the woodworking machine you need. It is a Robland, made in Belgium, combines a sliding table saw, shaper, planer, jointer and mortiser all in one central base. All the function of professional machines, but in a much smaller footprint.

Sounds like a much better, more capable & sophisticated Shopsmith.

The only commonality is several functions on one platform. The ShopSmith is a tiny table saw, a decent lathe and small vertical/horizontal DP. Other attachments could be purchased separately and all run off the same motor.

The Robland has three separate motors.

That robland appears to be in a whole other class than a shop smith.

My parents divorced when I was 5, my father left behind a full wood shop with a Shop Smith, it is really amazing that I figured out how to use that stuff and stay in one peice.

BTW a Shop Smith can do lots of other things besides wood working, I forget the details now but there was a way to make it catapult rasp files through windows. #-o

Thanks for not pointing out the floor, I wanted to have it epoxied but my then 6 year old talked me out of it saying "you will just ruin it, and then what will you do?" He was right.
