I found this new tubing from AED Motorsports in one of my recent circle track issues. By the looks of the website its been around a year plus worth of time with SFI regs listed here in this short pair of paragraphs. Anyone used this new tubing material yet on ST?

I thought about trying it for some of the dirt cars I build but it's too cost prohibitive. I think it's about 2 to 3 times the cost of CrMo. For what we do, the cost would keep the cars too overpriced to sell. However, after reading the technical data on it versus the CrMo, I would like to use some. The "as welded" state looks very interesting. Less brittle in the HAZ. That is where most welds "fail" and no special pre or post heating required.

My brother and I looked at that a couple years ago at the PRI show.
The company doing it had a lot of samples and information.
At that time it was not SFI approved, so we just kept track of it.
Last year they finally got SFI approval. (2012)
The material is very strong and lighter weight also I believe for the same size tubing.
AED became a supplier and probably one of the few who get it over here.
(company is from Sweden)
That guy was very knowledgeable about it at the PRI show.
(he raced Indy type cars I believe)
I think they can also do different configurations of tubing like the flatten type for aerodynamic purposes.
(like struts for wings or A-arms for dragsters)
It looked like a great product.
