Splitfire shift light tachometer
I purchased a bracket car that has a 5" Splitfire shift light tachometer with recall. The gentleman I purchased it from has passed away and I have no operating instructions. I searched Google and had no luck. I'm hoping someone here can help me. I'm also wondering about the quality of this piece. Is it worth my time or do I need to scrap it and buy an Auto Meter tach?

Re: Splitfire shift light tachometer
I think that if you take the time to sketch the wiring diagram as it is installed in the car and then post it along with a photo of the unit then you could develop a very useful thread. I think that people that know how to actually operate it will chime in at some point.

There is a you tube video titled How to wire a split fire tach. I would post the link but I am inferior to my smart phone

I saw that too -- lots of wiring diagrams for tachs in general but also people asking specifically about the Splitfire but not receiving answers (I think there are more wires than normal involved plus no instructions for operating recall etc.).

Re: Splitfire shift light tachometer
I found part numbers for multiple tachs by split fire. Maybe searching each part number separately may bring you to a parts supplier that has/had to hem in stock, and if u get lucky maybe one of those will have an install or instructions pdf you can view similar to jegs or summit. Or maybe search eBay for a split fire tach and it's possible one will have the install sheet and possibly a picture of proof for prospective buyers. Good luck

That's the one Kevin. It's hooked up in the car and works. I just don't know how to set the shift rpm or operate the recall. Surely someone else owns one of these. Thanks again.

Re: Splitfire shift light tachometer
Just found this link and played around with the virtual reality tach.
http://www.lynxcorp.com.au/main.php?idx=spitfiretacho
If you hover over the buttons on the tach it allows you to set and test the functions of the tach.
The caption at the bottom tells you what each button does and how to set them.
Start with the mode button and watch the set and recall functions work.
When set light is lit use the 2 small black buttons to adjust the shift rpm.
The tach needle moves up and down when your pushing the black buttons.
Not sure it will help you or not but I tried.

That's a great find! I just wrote to them and I hope they are able to post the wiring diagram and perhaps the written use instructions.

Re: Splitfire shift light tachometer
I played with it last night ( the tach that is ). It's actually pretty simple. With ignition on, press the mode button until the set light illuminates then adust with the up and down buttons until the needle is pointing to your desired shift rpm. Press mode again until recall light illuminates then press the up and down buttons together to clear. Press mode again until tach light illuminates and you are ready to race.

Tony, is there any easy way to trace where the wiring for your tach is going?
