WTD 351C CJ motor

Post by FFRacer 11 »

Hey all,
I am looking for a 72 or earlier 351C 4 bolt main. Wanting to build for the SCTA American Iron Class.

Any Help would be greatly appreciated,
Chris

Don't have a four-bolt engine in the core yard at present.

Some Cleveland blocks are drilled four-bolt but built with two-bolt caps. Could you use aftermarket caps in that class?

I don't know, I would think so?
This weekend I am going to the SCTA's inspector's clinic at Cerritos college. I intend to find out as much as I can about this class.
This is all new for me, I have raced vintage Formula Ford for quite some time now and have decided this Land Speed stuff looks like something myself and family will really enjoy + I only live about 35 miles from El Mirage! The big + is the folks I have met from the High Desert Racers club. These guys treated me like family. Been talking about them all week long.

Thanks for the reply and question,
Chris

FWIW, I've been told bottom ends don't take the same beating in land speed racing; since traction is non-existent on land speed tracks, there isn't the severe strain on bottom ends caused by hard launches by slicks on prepared tracks, followed by hard shifts. Your results may differ.

Have fun.

I have a 2 bolt block with a spare set of 4 bolt main caps has already been magged ok and it's standard bore, also a .035 four bolt block that's been magged with new cam bearing but not sure if I'm willing to part with the 4 bolt block.

Thanks,
I found the block, had to do a 1200 mile round trip up to No. Cal. but I got a standard block and crank, 4 bolt main.
Just in case how much and were are you located? Would be nice to have a second to build over the winter :-)

Thank You,
Chris

Was the block that you bought already sonic checked to see what the bored look like.Because I still have a standard bore block that has been sonic checked and I have a set of 4 bolt main caps that can go with the block.
