SBC Chinese intake
I know there was some discussion on the Holley sheet metal intakes in the past, most of it concluded that they were not worth the box they showed up in. Some said that the angled vs non angled runners would cause distribution issues which I did agree with. I ran across this one the other day, even though it isn't a dual 4 intake, as far as I could tell this is the only one that company offered. Any thoughts on this, doorstop or maybe worth trying?

Re: SBC Chinese intake
Well try it. It's cheaper right(?) and the Holley one is probably made in China too.
Where did you find this? Any guy with some metal skills can make it work.

Re: SBC Chinese intake
eBay, search for SBC sheet metal intake and it should be there. The seller from eBay is based out of Harrisonburg VA, not too far from me. I was going to call and see if they actually had one and maybe ride over and look at one.
Re: SBC Chinese intake
An intake like this could be used with a 3x2 carb. type top by putting the runners straight out and curved 90 degrees or so into the bottom of the plenum.
He, He!! Or with (2) Q-Jets with the front one only running with the back big barrels....
Only problem that I can see is that the runners may be too short for good midrange, "T", production?
Yes, who sells it?

Re: SBC Chinese intake
The 2 qjets as a six barrel setup would allow to straighten out
the intake runners on a intake like this.
It would be a lot more fun too.
These intakes look to me like they will run like the old
70's era "X runner" street single planes. "StreetMaster" etc.
Someone should come up with a universal sbc intake manifold base with stub intake ports with flange so people can develope their own custom upper intake runner spider with
plenum(s), that is low cost.

Re: SBC Chinese intake
You could saw the top off and make 2 flanges and weld as needed...lol. Would be nice if the Chinese would copy a better design.

Re: SBC Chinese intake
If was going to get into that to make a custom intake
manifold, that intake would not be my first choice.

Re: SBC Chinese intake
When I viewed this topic on my smartphone the other day I got the impression this was a plastic intake.
Looking at it again on a larger screen I noticed it's metal.

Re: SBC Chinese intake
Im sorry, I have to ask a stupid question, are all the comments above subjective opinions or has any one tested that intake. I guess Im lost as to all the negatism viewed here or are we just Chines disoriented. I could care less who makes a product but if it works, I want to try it--at least on my dyno. If you've tested post some numbers so me can see and me can play.

Re: SBC Chinese intake
It seems Holley has introduced a version of this manifold with removable top lids.
Re: SBC Chinese intake
Notice in this side view that the plenum and carb location above the runners is not centered.
The carbs are pushed forward a bit. I had a similar idea for the Six Shooter 2 Qjet setup.

Re: SBC Chinese intake
If they were to offer this in a unassembled KIT or a partial welded KIT say with the base already finished
it would be interesting. Allow you to build your own runners for it.
I'd like to see a version with the runners having a flange plate on each end so the runners bolt onto the base and bolt to the plenum bottom. This would allow the end user to experiment with runner size, length, taper shape etc.
The removable top allows for experimentation with the internal shape/volume of the plenum and runner entry shapes.
Potential as a low rise for supercharged ( blow thru or roots), or a mid rise, or a hi rise tunnel ram style.
The bolt on top allows Various carb setups or EFI configurations. Bolt on Runners could have EFI bungs
Or Nitrous bungs, ...or...
Brings sheet metal intake manifolds to the masses.
A unassembled or partial assembled KIT manifold saves production cost too.
