With a manual box you want a good power band from 1000rpm to the top.
Im sure this engine would work just as fine with a manual transmission, depress the throttle and you will be above the 1000RPM mark in a flash.

Thanks again Eric for all of your efforts in sharing this information. Did you by any chance flow a cylinder head intake port (with) intake bolted to it ? If so what was the difference with and without ? Thanks Mark. :)

Did both sets of headers have merge collectors or just the 1.875 headers?

I did not. I just didn’t have time. My stuff usually gets put on the back burner.

The bigger headers were straight collectors.

The bigger headers were straight collectors.

Because I'm old, can I go over this a bit just for clarity for me?

The big headers were 1.875-2.00 stepped with a straight 3.5 collector and the other headers were 1.750-1.875 with a 3 inch merge collector?

I'm trying to get it straight in my pointy little head.

Yep...

"Changed headers to 1 3/4 to 1 7/8 with a merge collector 3inch it lost 4hp. I tried different jetting it was solidly down."

I would love to have this engine to put in my S-10.

What does the S-10 you're going to put it in weigh?
