So, from that article I am garthering we need a steam locomotive with electric traction motors to go fast? Sorry to being a smartass but you have to know this thread will probably be twice as long .

Oh well. You're probably right. One dude is already on me because he doesn't understand that the "Energy" the dude is referring to in the first equation is likely Joules and he doesn't understand the difference between the distance something is moved linearly and the distance from center (radius) that force is applied. Not to an electrician.... one HP is 1920 watts....Power can be measured in Watts (W) or Horsepower (HP). 1 HP is the same as
746 Watts.
