Re: LS3 Carbed build
Over 700 set up right, I'd go solid roller, let it rpm!
heads need to be right, check out the Mast single plane intake, it will like a tighter LSA than a efi intake

Build it Once Build it Right!
Re: LS3 Carbed build
A solid roller would be cool. But it adds thousands in expense....springs to fit that head that will run a solid roller, lifters, rocker arms etc.
I plan on using mostly all of the oe stuff and travel limiting the stock lifters. 700? Really? Do you have any tips on the heads? The Mast intake is awesome but also out of budget. Thanks for the reply

Re: LS3 Carbed build
Chad, you may want to look up some of SAM's EMC builds to see if something gives you a fancy idea. If I remember right, they went against the grain on the wide LSA deal and did a 104 or something.
Re: LS3 Carbed build
Yeah, I've looked that stuff over through the years. This will be built with an rpm range a decent amount higher than EMC. That starts changing things in my opinion. It will most likely be pulled from 5 to 7500 or higher possibly, seeing as it is predominantly another dyno toy. But cam changes are simple on these things SO.......
Re: LS3 Carbed build
I understand about budgets; if porting the intake is in your future look @ all-pro intake it is the real deal.
Re: LS3 Carbed build
I think 650 will be quite achievable
I just finished a 4.0 x 3.622 wossner pistons total seal rings plate honed with a Jones Cam 232/235 276/292 612/600 112 on 108 ICL LS7 lifters I left the cross section just cleaned up the spring pad rocker bolt etc on the intake ported the exhaust I will have to find my measurements on the exhaust but set the throats @ 89% both sides 3/8 pushrods .
As the engine went into a VE it went on rollers with a Manual it made 487 @ 7000 at the tyres curve was flat as hell from 3500 to 5500
I would of loved to feed it E85 and 13.5 to 1 in saying that I didn’t look fully at the calcs to achieve this and don’t believe this would be acheivable with a flat top and keeping integrity in the heads .

Re: LS3 Carbed build
I made 648 @7500 , 526 @ 5400, on a basically stock truck LY6 6.0 with LS3 heads.
Heads milled .050", and .040"x 4.00
gaskets for compression.
Ports hand blended in the bowls by me. Nothing much done really.
Oem valve job.
Cam was a hydraulic. Done by Bret Bauer. 236/262 110lsa in strait up.
Intake was edelbrock Vic jr L92, with injector bosses ported out. 1" open carb spacer.
850 mighty demon carb
1 3/4" headers

Re: LS3 Carbed build
Thats 1.44 tq per cube. World class tq on an honest dyno for that kind of deal. . Any more details on that build......dyno.....cf etc. Where has Bret been btw?3pedals wrote: ↑Thu Nov 30, 2017 8:45 pm I made 648 @7500 , 526 @ 5400, on a basically stock truck LY6 6.0 with LS3 heads.

Re: LS3 Carbed build
The dyno may have been a little happy, Idk. It was calibrated during the dyno day session, because the operator couldnt believe it.
Correction was STP, I have to look to see if uncorrected data is still avail. That was 2012.
Was run on 91 octane non wth gas.
Car weighed 3425lbs and trapped 130 with a stick shift
I don't know where Bret is? I couldn't get a hold of him to do a turbo cam for me???
