Race Engine Challenge 2018
Since the rules will be released on the web site (www.RaceEngineChallenge.com) next Tuesday morning, I thought it would be
appropriate to start a new thread.
For those attending the PRI show, we will be at the Babcock Media booth (5110) on Friday at 2:00 if anyone wants to stop
by to have their say; we are not beyond taking a hard look at any rule if someone wants to make a reasoned suggestion.
Let me also say again, that our intention is to have two classes of rules in 2019.
Our motto remains "an engine contest by engine builders, for engine builders"; or to put it another way, we like to think of our rules as "yes, you can" instead of "no, you can't".

Oh yeah! Just skimmed thru rules Looks awesome Greg nice job! I’m thinking we should see 1.9hp/cube here. Thoughts?

With Mopars and Fords the engine starter attaches to the bellhousing yet no bellhousing is be used so, how is the starter to be attached ...?
Allowing this type fabricated oil pan yet NOT allowing an external wet-sump oil pump is not conducive to one another but, it is your sandbox.

Gt260 fuel required. My only experience with Sonoco GT260 left some to desired. Had a 306 SBF on the pump, it was down about 30 HP from the VP fuel tried next. Even 100LL out performed it.

Spent the last two days at the Advanced Engine Technology Conference and had the chance to share the rules with several
people including John Kaase and Billy Godbold from Comp Cams. Leave it to Kaase the wizard to immediately see a loop hole
In the rules - it will be addressed in the rules on the web site by next week.

By consensus ... the EMC had a lot of good rules and those should not be changed ... it is the BAD and uninforceable rules which should be stricken and rewritten to be made into a good rule or, "open" with no rule at all taking its place.

After spending the last week at AETC/PRI and sharing the rules with some real engine pros it's only natural that a few things
would be pointed out that need to be corrected or need clarification. Most of these items are not things that are going to
change engine output. I'm also happy to say that it was generaly thumbs up as far as the rules go.
All this will be incorporated into the rules on the web site this week.

Greg, will you be only using the 3 best hp peak numbers,,, no tq number involved?

The equation for horsepower is HP = T X RPM/5252. If you know the RPM and you know just the T or just the HP you can
figure out the other. That equation tells you why T is always more than HP below 5252 RPMs.
Why EMC added both I don't know - it is not neccary.
